What is a zine?
A "zine" (short for "fanzine" or "magazine") is a small magazine led by independent creators focused on a specific topic. In our project's context, our zine will focus on the friendships between the Beta kids from the webcomic Homestuck.
Is the zine SFW?
Yes, this will be a safe for work project. However, you may expect similar levels of violence, gore, and profanity similar to the extents seen in the original webcomic.
Will the zine be physical or digital?
This will be decided by our interest check! If we receive at least 100 responses, the zine will be physical. Otherwise, it will be a digital project with the consideration of physical merch.

Who are the Beta kids?
The Beta kids are the first four kids introduced in Andrew Hussie's webcomic Homestuck. These are John/June Egbert, Rose Lalonde, Dave Strider, and Jade Harley.
Will this zine contain shipping?
This zine will contain ships to the extent they have been observed in the original webcomic (such as Rose/Kanaya and Dave/Karkat). However, they will not be the main focus of the zine.
What do you mean by "supplementary media"?
This refers to any piece of media outside of the original webcomic, such as the Paradox Space books, Pesterquest, The Homestuck Epilogues, Beyond Canon, and HOMESTUCK - The Animated Pilot.
Will this zine feature AUs?
Due to the various timelines and portrayals depicted across all Homestuck-related media, all AUs are welcome as long as they adhere to our guidelines. Have fun when brainstorming your piece!

Can I apply for multiple roles?
Yes, but you will only be accepted for one role.
Will there be guest creators?
Yes! These will depend on our interest check responses.
How will contributors be compensated?
All contributors will be provided with a free full digital bundle at minimum. Our goal is to provide each contributor with a free full bundle with shipping covered if our sales allow it!
Am I allowed to make changes to canon character designs?
Within reason, yes! You will be allowed to depict appearance, ethnicity, and stylistic headcanons in your works as long as all characters are recognizable from the source material.
